Post 2- UFO
It was interesting to learn that alien sightings and abduction reports skyrocketed when the film industry made the concept popular. While this was not expected, I find it so fascinating that people snowball in this way. When you hear about abduction stories, a majority of those that come to mind are from the 1900s, especially those around New Mexico. I could not name one people in the past 10 years who has claimed to have been abducted by aliens (not to say that there has not been reports of such). I believe it is because technology is advanced enough for sightings to be captured, where as proof would be harder to obtain 50 years ago, thus the sightings have dropped significantly. I have attached the first picture of a UFO to show how easy it was to fake a sighting.

Hey Jacqueline,
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way you do. I too find it quite odd how there are so many modern reports of 'alien sightings and abductions', yet their stories are not often listened to. Especially since older stories use older technology, which makes it easier to assume the photo really is of an alien. This lecture reminded me quite a bit about the Mass Hysteria, as a large number of people immediately assume something is true, rather than investigate it.
