Aromatherapy claims to be able to do a lot of things merely with scent. This intrigued me because it seemed too good to be true. People who believe in aromatherapy believe that it can go as far as helping with depression, anxiety, fear, physical injuries and even wrinkles. Personally, the only correlation between scents and how I feel that I can think of is when I smell a good smell and it may, at most bring back a memory. People hear "essential oils" and "3000 year old practice" and automatically are convinced that it must work. A lot of people advocating for aromatherapy claim that it's an anti-inflammatory, helps you sleep, heal, etc... But unfortunately, none of these claims are backed up by science and is really likely the placebo effect.
