Psychic Detectives

My mother has always believed in the paranormal and has gone to psychics for as long as I can remember.  One woman had psychic abilities, but her primary career was a detective. She used her abilities in order to help her cases. Later in her career, people would be skeptical about her information and she retired from being a detective and started doing readings instead. My mother always found her readings beneficial and couldn't believe some of the things that she knew. I grew up being a believer in these things, but after learning about cold readings, vague statements, and how they gather their information, I am starting to become skeptical. I want to believe that there are people that can communicate with our deceased loved ones, but unfortunately now I believe that will only happen after we pass away.
