3/3 Mass Hysteria

Mass hysteria occurs when a large group of people  fall in to a start of panic or suddenly exhibit strange abnormal behaviors. Popular examples of this are Salem which trials and the red scare of the 1950's. both are often compared to one another for there striking similarities in how people reacted. most people during the events operated on the principal of "if I'm with X then i cant be Y" as well as "if I accuse someone of A then I wont be suspected of being A". People fell back on these two ideas because the accusation from the mob were unfalsifiable claims. Some may think that "those wore a long time ago we fall in to that pit again", bit we do again and again. We see a less harmful version of mob mentality today in primed schemes, they work differently but there still a large amount of people who get behind a strange idea simply because others are getting behind the idea. Given the history of mass hysteria I can't help but wonder when the next one will be and what will it be about.
