The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day
Saints, also known as the FLDS, is probably one of the most frightening
examples of what a selfish thinker can accomplish when surrounded by naïve thinkers. Warren Jeffs is the founder of this church,
and is probably one of the most manipulative men in the world. He led the branch of the Mormon Church until
he was convicted of two felony counts of child sexual assault in 2007. Besides these counts, he was also charged
with eight other counts of various sexual misconducts. In a television series on TLC, they
highlighted the indecent conditions in which the women had to live. Women were told, ever since they were little,
to just “keep sweet” when men treated them poorly. And when a woman would act out, she would be
taken from her family and married off to another man within the church. “Breaking the Faith” was cancelled after only
one season, but it showed many people just how dangerous a selfish thinker can
be when given the right opportunity.
Here is a clip of the show. It’s
more of a summary and is pretty intense.
Enjoy!
